Morey John Courtney, age 79, of Mineral Bluff, GA passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 in the Fannin Regional Hospital in Blue Ridge, GA. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 21, 1932 to the late Daniel Courtney and Mildred Youst Courtney. He was retired from Manatee County, FL Water Department where he worked as a field service specialist. He was a member of Blue Ridge United Methodist Church and was a United States Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict with the Military police. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerard Courtney. He is survived by his wife, Mara Folts Courtney of Mineral Bluff; daughters and sons-in-law, Lauren and Thomas Ford of Indian Trail, NC and Debbie and Frank Livingstone of St. Charles, Missouri; brother, Roger Courtney of Florissant, Missouri; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. from the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Burrell officiating. Interment will follow in Chastain Memorial Park. The body will lie in state at the church Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
