Obituary

Mr. Milus Robert Garrison, age 91, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away Thursday March 6, 2008. He was a native of Fannin County, GA, the son of the late Joshua Amos and Mary Lou Twiggs Garrison. Mr. Garrison worked as a Logger in the Pacific Northwest as well as a Copper Miner for the Tennessee Copper Company and finally as a self employed farmer in Georgia. He was a member of the Damascus Baptist Church, a Master Mason of McCaysville Lodge #423 and a Member of the Cattlemen's Association. Mr. Garrison lived a wonderful life filled with experiences and joy through his love of traveling and music. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ida Mae Coffey Garrison; brothers, Amos, Alvin, Emory and Edsel Garrison; sisters, Gusta Nicholson, Mamie Garrison, Gertrude Tucker, Ellen Callihan and Grace Adams; step son, Kenny Welch. Survivors include his wife, Irma Welch Garrison of Blue Ridge, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Lynn Clyburn Garrison of Palmer, Alaska; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Diane and Joseph Hall of Lawrenceville, Georgia; step sons, Tim Welch of Cleveland, Tennessee and Steve Welch of Cartersville, Georgia; step daughter, Eva Jean Davis of Morganton, Georgia; grandchildren, Alex, Joseph and Amanda Hall all of Georgia, Lynsea Larah Garrison of Washington, D.C.; great grandchild, Catherine Diane Hall; step grandsons, Nick Welch, Marshal Davis, Steven Welch and Mason Welch; step grand daughters, Chris Coronado, Carrie Welch, Laurel Welch, Rebecca Davis and Cassidy Davis; step-great grandsons, Jarid Coronado and Nathan Davis; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, March 12, at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Brantley, Rev. Glen Collis and Rev. Danny Collis officiating. Music will be provided by Pat Miller, Magan Wood, Gilliam Farmer and Rachael Callihan. Interment will follow in the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Chris Green, Wesley Huffman, Andy Huffman, Drue Callihan, Eddy Garrison and Jimmy Gindorff. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as honorary pallbearers: Ilo Bossen, Tommy Callihan, Winston Callihan, Dusty Jordan, Jerry Keppel, Glen Callihan, Gilliam Farmer, Tommy Hamby, Dale Dyer, Dr. Tim Jabaley, Donald Chancey, Steve Huffman, Steve Green, Garland Nicholson, and Kenley Garrison. Masonic Graveside Rites will be provided by McCaysville Lodge #423 F&AM concluded by music provided by Donald Chancey and Eddy Garrison. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 11th, from 6-9 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
