Milton Nebraska Holmes, age 84, of Marietta, GA, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012 at his home. Born in Talking Rock, GA he was the son of the late Floyd and Estelle Grizzle Holmes. He served in the United States Army. Mr. Holmes was retired from L&N Railroad as a locomotive Engineer. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). He was also a member of the Kingtown Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Edna "Sis" Pauline Holmes.Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Gus Vasquez of Woodstock, GA; grandchildren, Melissa (Perry) Hobby of Woodstock, GA and Jason Vasquez of Acworth, GA; great-grandchildren, Chandler and Lindsey Hobby; sisters, Rosemary Langhans of Blue Ridge, GA and Claudine Hughes of McCaysville, GA; sister-in-laws, Kathryn Godfrey, Betty Godfrey, and Wilma Godfrey all of McCaysville, GA and Motsy Godfrey of Powder Springs, GA; and several nieces and nephews.Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday June 27, at 2:00 p.m. from the Kingtown Church Cemetery with Rev. Marty Godfrey officiating. Military honors will be provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Garland, Gus Vasquez, Jason Vasquez, Perry Hobby, Edwin Crapps and Richard Honea. Chandler Hobby will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
