Obituary

Midge "Sweetie Pie" Cook, age 70, of McCaysville, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021. She was born in Blue Ridge, to the late Claude Pearl Rhodes and Anna Lee Dillard Rhodes. Midge was a member of Bethel Church. She worked for many years as a Seamstress for Levi Strauss. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, A.M. Rhodes, Larry Rhodes, and Gary Rhodes. Midge is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Vickie Rhodes; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janie and Tony Queen, Joyce Patterson, Pam and Steve Free, and Tammy Ware; nieces and nephews, Amber (Brendlyn) Phillips, Aria Phillips, Emilee Corn, Raygan Corn, Stacy Rhodes, Mindy (Jeremiah) Clore, Jax Clore, Anna Corn, and Caiden Corn and many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends also survive. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 1:00 PM from Bethel Church with Rev. Doug Payne officiating. Music was provided by the Bethel Church Choir. Interment followed in the Bethel Church Cemetery with the following nephews serving as pallbearers: Justin Queen, Shaun Free, Buddy Linderman, Robbie Corn, Wesley Corn, and Tyler Corn. Honorary pallbearers were be Mike George, Brendlyn Phillips, Anthony Rhodes, and Jason Rhodes. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
