Obituary

Michael Stephen Henderson Sr., age 68, of Blue Ridge, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 in Blue Ridge.

Born on November 2, 1957 in Birmingham, Alabama, he was the son of the late Raymond Franklin Henderson and Virginia June Bailey Henderson. Michael honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, where he served in Desert Storm, and attained the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, later retiring as Base Fire Chief.

He was a man of integrity, respected by all who knew him. A natural leader, he guided others with kindness, generosity, and an unwavering sense of duty. He found joy in restoring classic cars and listening to the music he loved, especially classic rock favorites. Above all, he cherished his family, who remained the center of his life and his greatest pride.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Robbie Henderson.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Dee Henderson; children, Kristin Henderson-Miller (Ethan) and Michael Stephen Henderson Jr.; step-children, Owen Jones (Michele) and Chester Jones (Lisa); grandchild, Garrett Miller; and step-grandchildren, Brandon (Shelby), Connor, Ashlyn, Alex, Kaylee, Grayson, Waylin, and Maverick.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Blue Ridge, Georgia. Beginning at 6:00 p.m. there was a time of sharing personal remembrances and prayer by Rev. Denny Hawkins. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. central time from the Jefferson Memorial Gardens South (2701 John Hawkins Pkwy, Hoover, AL 35244).
