The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Rev. Michael Lew Crawford, age 54, of Copperhill, Tenn., who passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN. He was a native and lifelong resident of the Copper Basin, son of the late Roosevelt and Delzia Jones Crawford. Rev. Crawford was employed by Blue Ridge Police Department and was a member and served as pastor of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Crawford and a brother, James Crawford.He is survived by his wife Amy (Smith) Crawford of the home; one daughter, Laura Crawford of Ducktown, Tenn., one brother, Conrad Crawford of Copperhill, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, August 17 at 5:00 PM from the Akins Chapel with Rev. Roger Hyatt officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM Tuesday. Interment will follow in the Mt. Harmony Church Cemetery with Hall County Honor Guard providing the closing ceremony. Pallbearers will be Johnny Scearce, Rob Stuart, Justin Abercrombie, Jason Crawford, James Burris, Mike Cochran, Michael Cochran and Steve Talley. The Blue Ridge Police officers and all law enforcement officers will serve as an honorary escort.
