Melody Jean Colbert, age 62, of Blue Ridge passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. She was born on June 4, 1959, in Copperhill, TN to the late Paul and Juanita Sowers Hopper. Melody was a waitress at the Waffle House for several years and was a member of the New Liberty Church in Clarkesville, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Gary Hopper, Leroy Hopper, and Joan Burch; and husband, John Colbert. She is survived by her companion, Isaac Elrod of Blue Ridge; great-aunts, Edwina Haren of Blue Ridge and Ruby Sowers of Blue Ridge; sisters, Gale (John) Dover of Clarkesville, Judy (Mabron) Worley of Cornelia, Teresa (late Norman) Norwood of Blairsville, and Glynda (Danny) Crooke of Ellijay; thirteen nieces and nephews; a host of other family members and friends. Graveside services were conducted on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. from the New Liberty Church Cemetery in Clarkesville with Rev. Kyle Gibson officiating. Pallbearers were Gary Chris Hopper, Larry Hopper, Joseph Hopper, Shane Davis, David English, and John Dover.
