Mrs. Melba Jones, age 76, of Morganton, GA passed away Wednesday, June 08, 2011 in the Union General Hospital in Blairsville, GA. Mrs. Jones was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 8, 1935 to the late Willard Vogel and Melba Arensmeyer Vogel. She was a retired teacher, having taught school in Polk County, GA. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cedartown, GA. She was preceded in death by a grandchild, Morgan Shirley. She is survived by her husband, William Jones of Morganton; daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Tim Kelley of Marietta, GA and Mary and Tommy Stewart of Roswell, GA; sister, Valentine Embry of Indianapolis, Indiana; and three grandchildren, Mary C. Kelley, Thomas Kelley, and Will Shirley. Graveside services were conducted Friday, June 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from Chastain Memorial Park.
