Maxine Godfrey, age 79, of Epworth GA passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025. She was born on January 5, 1946 in Blue Ridge, GA to the late Claude Thomas Hughes and Edith Birdie Hancock Hughes. Maxine was a member of Kingtown Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Rev. Charles Edward Godfrey and brother, C.J. Hughes.

Survivors are sister and brother-in-law, Christine Hughes Franklin (Charles) of Meansville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Edward Anthony Godfrey (Lisa) of Cumming, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Godfrey Washam (Mark) of Ellijay, GA; grandchildren, Danielle Washam, Austin Washam, Lindsey Godfrey, and Ansley Godfrey; great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Flora Hughes of Blue Ridge, GA; several nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews also survived.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Danny Queen officiating. Music was provided by Matthew Johnson and Tracie Maphet. Interment followed in the Kingtown Baptist Church Cemetery with Scott Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Steve Cheatham, and Winston Taylor serving as pallbearers. The family visited with friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 14, prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
