Box 760Blue Ridge, GA 30513 Copperhill, TN 37317(706) 632-2267 (423) 496-5554 The Akins Funeral of Copperhill announces funeral services for Mr. Max Roosevelt Payne, age 78, of Copperhill, TN who passed away Monday, March 28, 2011.Born in Polk County, TN he was the son of the late Wallace Shadden Payne and Mabel Ann Pevehouse. He retired as a Damage Controlman in the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service. Max was a past master of Copperhill Lodge #656 F&AM,a 32nd degree mason and a member of the Shriners. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, David Scott and Melody Payne of Marietta, GA and Patrick Allen and Suellen Payne of Ruther Glen, VA; daughter and son-in-law, Donna Gail and Jeff Prendergast of Knoxville, TN; one brother Zane Leon Payne of Loganville GA; four sisters Charlotte LaVern Lockhart of Athens, TN, Edris Altoise Deal of Kingston, TN, Alva Jeanne Fowler of Postelle, TN, and Barbara Gale Dale of Kingston, TN; five grandchildren Victoria Prendergast, Mary Cate Prendergast, Sam Prendergast, Benjamin David Payne, and George Anthony Payne. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 31st at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Frank Fisher officiating. Music will be by Bob and Susie Nanny. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Ronald Fowler, Jeff Payne, Kelly Dale, Roger Deal, Charles Lockhart and James Patterson. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion (Postell) Baptist Church Cemetery with Full military honors provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard and Masonic Rites provided by Copperhill Masonic Lodge #656 F&AM.
