Mattie Locke Lowery, age 86, of McCaysville,GA went home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 7, 2015. Mrs. Lowery was born January 22, 1929 in Copperhill to the late Frances Locke and Dollie Payne Locke. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Joe Thomas Lowery, grandson, Brian Lowery, brothers, Carl, Roy, George, William, Henry and Wesley Locke, sisters, Emily NIx, Ola Barker and Lilly BennettShe is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Geraldine and Wesley Payne of McCaysville, GA; one son, Kenneth Joe Lowery of Copperhill,TN; two brothers, Marion Locke of Reliance, TN and Oscar and Lois Locke of Portage, IN; one sister Merlean Hughes of McCaysville,GA; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.She was a member of the Mt. View Baptist Church for seventy four years and a Sunday School teacher for many years.She has gone on to be with family and friends and we are sure they are rejoicing with her in her new body that is free from pain and suffering. She will forever be kept in our hearts and will be deeply missed.Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 9th at 2:00 p.m. from the Mt. View Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Payne officiating. Music was by Kenny & Kim O'Neal and family. Pallbearers included Jeff Payne, Greg Payne, Ken Lowery, Cory Waters, Scott Barker and Gene Barker. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
