Mattie Garland, age 80, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017 in Atlanta, GA. Born on March 15, 1936 in Epworth, GA, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Foster and Roxie Davenport Foster. She was a member of McCaysville Gospel Tabernacle. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Clay W. Garland.She is survived by son, Doyle Garland of Atlanta, GA; and nieces and nephews, Clara Harris, Peggy Nicholson, Cheryl Caskiet, Patsy and Bennie Messer, Ellen and Leonard Hunter, William Cantrell, Tommy Cantrell, Donnie and Martha Foster, and Kenneth Foster; .Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at 12:00 pm from Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Delmar Davenport and Rev. Scott Baugh officiating. Interment followed in the Ensley Family Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chris Queen, Jeff Queen, Terry Harris, Barry Harris, Jamie Cantrell, Larry Nicholson, Robbie Russell, and Cheryl Hennig. Honorary pallbearers Kenny Queen, Mann Patterson, Benny Ensley, and Rev. Marvin and Joanne Poole served as honorary pallbearers.
