Mary Alice Payne Williamson, age 85, of McCaysville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 20, 1939 in Whitestone, Georgia to the late James Howard Payne and Eula Mae Wright Payne. Mary was in the graduating class of West Fannin High School in 1958. In her younger years, she enjoyed quilting and traveling. Most of all, she loved her grandbabies dearly, and spending time with her beloved family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Howard Payne and Eula Mae Wright Payne;husband, Calvin Lewis Williamson; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Judy Williamson; siblings, Nancy Lee, James Wilford (Frances) Payne, and Doug Payne; and son-in-law, Jerry Beaver.
Mrs. Williamson is survived by her children, Beth Beaver of Blue Ridge, GA, Raymond Williamson of Tuscon, AZ, and Jeannie (Dave) Klebba of McCaysville, GA;grandchildren, Amanda (E.T) Worjak, Nathan (Lyn) Beaver, Ashley (Brandon) Blevins, Adam Williamson, Lindsey (Kevin) Milner, Paul (Rachel) Beaver, Jennifer Wilk, and John Calvin Porter; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Aubree, Tyler, Nomanee, Jacob, Emanuel, and Layla; bonus great-grandchildren, Charles, Payton, and Lexie; brother and sister-in-law, William and Sue Payne of Cornelia, GA; sister-in-law, Sharon Payne of Westminister, SC; daughter-in-law, Alice Williamson of Lawton, OK; several nieces and nephews; and special friend and neighbor, Loretta Nazerine of McCaysville, GA.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rick Newberry officiating. Special music was provided by Vicky Whittenbarger. Interment followed in the Kingtown Baptist Church Cemetery with William Payne officiating. Selected to serve as pallbearers were: Tyler Dixon, Nathan Beaver, Adam Williamson, Paul Jerry Beaver, Aubree Worjak, and Skip Heflin. Selected to serve as honorary pallbearers were: Rick Newberry, Kenny Nazerine, Kennon Nazerine, Max Housley, Charles Lowery, Payton Stiles, Dominic, Nomanee, Jacob, and Emanuel.
The family requests that memorial contributions in honor of Mrs. Williamson be made to the Alzheimers Association at alz.org or to the St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital at stjude.org.
