The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces the death of Mary Lou, affectionately known to family and friends as "Totsy", Panter, age 69, of Copperhill, TN, who passed away Monday, September 15th . Mary was a native of the Copper Basin area and was a daughter of the late Francis Marion and Ruth Ann Pulliam Panter. She was retired from Arp's Restaurant and Pat's Kountry Kitchen where she worked for a number of years. She was a member of the McCaysville Gospel Tabernacle.She is survived by brothers, Kenneth Panter of Woodstock, GA, Doug Panter of Copperhill, TN; sisters, Martha Payne and Sonia Panter , both of Copperhill, TN; nieces, Sharon Henson and Karen Edwards; nephew, James McDaniel; great nieces, Ashley McDaniel and Amber Hampton; great nephews, Brandon Ward and Nathan Hampton.Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 18th at 2:00 PM from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Minister Bill Johnston and Rev. Larry Stover officiating. Music will be by Ronnie O'Neal and Charlene Mitchell. Pallbearers include Dr. Tim Jabaley, Greg Hampton, Mark Edwards, Doug Panter, Kenneth Panter and James McDaniel. Interment will follow in the Mt. View cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
