Mary Elizabeth Mealer, age 91, of the Life Care Center of Athens, TN, passed away on December 19, 2020. She was born in Cleveland, VA to the late Albert and Bessie Sykes Bailey. She was retired from Levi Strauss and Company after many years of service. She was also a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Murphy, NC. She was also preceded her in death by her husband, Kenneth Daris Mealer; and siblings, William Bailey, Cummings Joe Bailey, Virgie Sutherland and Retha Thomas. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Susie Distin (George Sultuska) of Destin, FL, William Paul "Billy" Cook of Cleveland, TN, Teresa Dewease (Phillip) of Marietta, SC and Darris Mealer of Harbuck, TN; grandchildren, Lisa Rose, Mindy Loudermilk, Adam Davis, Philip Davis and Wesley Cook; great grandchildren, John Rose, Jacob Rose, Riley Rose, Jackson Rose, Colt Davis, Avery Davis and Brooks Davis. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from the Temple Baptist Church in Murphy, NC with Rev. Don Padgett officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: John Rose, John Rose, II, Jarrod Loudermilk, Jackson Rose, Philip Davis, Adam Davis and Wesley Cook.
