Mary Ruth Harris Mason, born on November 17, 1946, was called home to be with Jesus and her beloved family on May 10, 2025. She graced this world for 78 years, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness that will resonate through generations.
Mary Ruth dedicated her life to nurturing others, both as a loving wife and a devoted mother, and later as a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. She was married to the love of her life for 62 beautiful years, a testament to their enduring bond and shared faith. Together, they created a warm and loving home, filled with laughter and joy.
A passionate musician, Mary Ruth found great joy in playing the organ and singing in various churches, sharing her gift with those around her. Her love for music was matched only by her creative spirit, which flourished through her quilting, gardening, and sewing. Each piece she created was a reflection of her heart and creativity, lovingly stitched with care.
As a daycare owner in Dalton, Georgia, Mary Ruth touched the lives of countless children and their families, providing a nurturing environment where love and learning flourished. Her selflessness extended beyond her family and business, as she dedicated her time to church activities, volunteering to build independent churches, singing, and visiting nursing homes. Her compassion knew no bounds, as she also cared deeply for her aged and disabled parents.
Mary Ruth will be forever remembered for her unwavering Christian faith, her generosity, and her kindness to everyone she met. She embodied the true spirit of love and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband Johnny H Mason, her son Phil Mason (grandchildren-Gannon &. Paige Mason, her daughter and son-in-law Tish Ingalls and Brian Ingalls (grandchildren-Brooke Cayla Estep, Bradley and Brett Baker, and multiple great-grandchildren, who will carry on her legacy of love, faith, and service. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and all those she touched throughout her extraordinary life.
Rest in peace, dear Mary Ruth. Your light will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those who loved you.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 12:00 PM from the Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Justin Payne officiating. Music was provided by Ruby Payne and Dale Payne. Interment followed in the New Hope Church Cemetery. The family visited with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM.
