Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Green, age 79, of Copperhill, TN passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2010 in the Skyridge Medical Center in Cleveland, TN. She was born on April 30, 1930 in Fannin County, GA to the late Andrew Napolean and Lillie Gertrude Hughes. Mrs. Green was a homemaker and a member of McCaysville Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Green. Survivors include a son Edward Green of Marble, NC; daughter, Elizabeth Burgess of Cleveland, TN; brother, Wilburn Hughes of Ellijay, GA; sisters, Ellen Melton of Copperhill, TN, Floy Curtis of Epworth, GA and Alwayne Campbell of Atlanta, GA; three granddaughters, Tammy Gibbs, Sandy Reid and Carla Shumaker; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survive. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the McCaysville Church of God with Rev. Chris Taylor and Rev. J.T. Willoughby officiating. Music was provided by Valerie Taylor. Interment followed in the Barnes Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were Johnny Housley, Michael Reid, Daniel Shumaker, Otis Melton, Ricky Curtis, Donald Curtis and Max Housley. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
