Mary Ruth Abernathy, age 64 of Blue Ridge, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019. She was born on October 27, 1954 in Murphy to the late, Clarence and Daisy Rogers Wilson. She was of the Baptist Faith. She loved spending time with her family and friends and going to the salon with her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Gregory Abernathy. She is survived by her son, Derrick Abernathy of Acworth; brothers, David "Bud" (Wanda) Wilson and James Wilson of Peachtree, NC; sister, Irene (Wallace) Ledford of Hayesville, NC; aunts and uncles, John and Bonnie Watkins and Lawrence and Barbara Bell; nieces and nephews, Daniel Ledford, Kesha Ledford, Jennifer Wilson, Katlyn Wilson, and Kaleb Wilson; cousins, Ricky and Rosietta Wilson and Bobby Ray Wilson; and special friends, Sheryl and Jameson Hyatt and Ralph Garner. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Ricky Wilson officiating. Music was provided by Rev. Ricky and Rosietta Wilson. Interment followed in the Van Hook Cemetery with Daniel Ledford, John Watkins, Wallace Ledford, Mike Thomas, Mark Newberry and Tyler Bell serving as pallbearers.
