Marvin Queen, age 71, of McCaysville, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at his home. He was born in McCaysville, GA on May 29, 1950, to the late Robert Lee Queen and Annie Waters Queen. Marvin retired from the Tennessee Chemical Company, where he worked as a Miner for many years. Later he worked as a Deputy for Fannin County Sheriff's Office and for the McCaysville Police Department. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt, fish, camping, and just enjoyed the mountains. He is preceded in death by his parents; step-daughter, Tonia Simpson; and brother, Ray Waters.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Evelyn Queen; children, Angelica (Andy) Lakhani and Roy Lee (Laura) Queen; grandchildren, Chase (Meredith) Lakhani, great-grandchild, Lily Lakhani; step-children, Tammy Abercrombie, Darren Self, and Melissa Self; nephew, Daniel and Kassandra Waters and their children Abigail and Patterson Waters; and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, April 8, 2022 at 2:00 pm from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Clinton Hughes officiating. Honors will be presented by the Gilmer County Sheriff's Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be the Gilmer County Sheriff's Department, Fannin County Sheriff's Department, and the McCaysville Police Department. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 pm until the service hour of 2:00 pm.
