Marian E. Welborn Anderson, age 87, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012 in the Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN. Mrs. Anderson was born in White County, GA on November 19, 1924 to the late Horace Lafayette and Delia Mae King Welborn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilyard Littleton Anderson. Marian was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge since 1967. She served as the Hospitality Chairman for a period of time and managed and prepared for the Wednesday night meal at the church for many years. She was a charter member of the local Arts Association. Marian was also a long standing member of the Blue Ridge Homemakers Club/Fannin County Homemakers Council. She served in offices at the local, district and state levels. She was among the small group of women who started the annual Harvest Sale in 1969. It started with four tables on the side of the road and has grown into an event which draws visitors from all over North Georgia. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Judy Anderson of Midlothian, VA, Richard and Alline Anderson of Greeneville, TN and Donald and Lori Anderson of Blue Ridge, GA; one daughter and son-in-law, Jo Lynn and Phil Carstensen of Hendersonville, NC; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Stanick, Nick Anderson, Beth Anderson, Michael Carstensen, Kelly Carstensen, Mandy Anderson, Tasha Anderson and Stephanie Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Stanick, Hayden Stanick and Arpi Anderson. Funeral Services were conducted on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge with Dr. Charles Howell and Rev. Harold Willis officiating. Music was by Imogene Stewart and Ione O'Neill. Pallbearers were Howard Kent, Don Peek, Bill Rizer, Chuck Sisson, Ken Wood and Jerry Gordon. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge. Interment followed in Chastain Memorial Park.
