Margaret Ann Lewis, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, December 12, 2024, at her home in Blue Ridge, with her husband and three daughters by her side. She was born on April 4, 1938, in Teaberry, KY, to the late Sam Akers and Frances Compton Akers. Margaret was a devoted and active member of Welcome Hill #2 Baptist Church, where she loved to sing with her husband, JC.

Margaret was a proud and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to cook for her family and friends. As a child, her family moved to Michigan, where she met her husband while working at the A&W.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Wanda Vivian Akers and Carman Akers; and sons-in-law, William Wade "Bill" Payne and Billy Campbell, Jr.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, JC Lewis of Blue Ridge; daughters, Patricia Payne of Epworth, Tammy (Rodney) Gibby of Blue Ridge, and Pamela Campbell of Mineral Bluff; grandchildren, Amanda (Jason) Bradburn, Brandon (Heather) Gibby of Talking Rock, Jessica Payne of Moulton, AL, Erica East of Mineral Bluff, and Trey (Andrea) Campbell of Morganton; great-grandchildren, Heath and Gavin Bradburn, Landon and Peyton Gibby of Talking Rock, Piper McCoy of Mineral Bluff, and Melanie Campbell of Morganton; sister, Betty Caldwell of Blue Ridge; sister-in-law, Joann Akers; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 1:00 PM from Welcome Hill #2 Baptist Church with Rev. Brent Carter and Rev. Gary Parris officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Rev. Paul Adams officiating. Pallbearers were Jason Bradburn, Heath Bradburn, Gavin Bradburn, Brandon Gibby, Trey Campbell, and Rodney Gibby. The family  visited with friends at the funeral home on Friday Evening from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Margaret lied in state at Welcome Hill #2 Baptist Church on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
