Obituary

Manuel Hoyt Campbell, age 97, of Blue Ridge, Georgia passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024 in Blairsville, Georgia. He was born on December 16, 1926 in Murphy, North Carolina to the late Bradous Henry Campbell and Flossie Payne Campbell. Mr. Campbell was a faithful and devoted member of O'Zion Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for several decades. He worked for many years as an operator for the Tennessee Copper Company, later retiring in 1987. He enjoyed gardening and flowers, and was known to have a green thumb. He loved being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Mr. Campbell honorably served his country in the United States Army, where he served in the Phillipines during WWII. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. The most important things in his life were his family and his church.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Nelle May Davenport Campbell; and siblings, Earl Campbell, Charles Campbell, Herbert Campbell, Nolan Campbell, Zack Campbell, Jeanette Davenport, and Helen Jordan.

He is survived by his children, Steve (Susan) Campbell and Lynn (Charles) Bradburn; grandchildren, Kimberly (Timmy) Brannon and Ryan (Rebecca) Campbell; great-grandchildren, Lexus Brannon, Cohutta Brannon, Mukinzee Brannon, and Rowan Campbell; sisters, Ruth Campbell and Doris Long; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the O'Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Pope and Rev. Jackie Cochran officiating. Music will be provided by the O'Zion Baptist Church Choir. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Ryan Campbell, Cohutta Brannon, Michael Beaver, Billy Long, Tommy Herendon, Richard Long and Greg Campbell. Selected to serve as honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of O'Zion Baptist Church. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
