Obituary

Manard "Honey" Dills, age 92, of Blue Ridge, Georgia passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at his home. He was born on October 29, 1931 in Fannin County, Georgia to the late Birt Monroe and Rosie Tate Godfrey Dills. On November 24, 1955, he married his beloved wife, Ida Mae "Bootsie" Dills, and they were married until her death in 2014. Manard began his career at Tri- State EMC on August 8, 1957, where he worked for over 30 years. He did a lot of work on the side including laying brick and block, and also worked at the radio station from 1980 until 1987. He was a former president of the Fannin County Co-Op. Manard was a man of many talents, and it seemed there was never anything he was not able to do. For many years, he had countless dogs, loved anything outdoors, and was grounded in his faith of the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 59 years, Ida Mae "Bootsie" Dills; and siblings, Edward Dills, William Dills, Margaret Goddard, and Marie Dills.

Manard is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Art) Kinser; god-daughter, Christy Kinser; grandchildren, Mary Beth (Mike) Westphal, Keshia (Noel) Buchanan, John (Holly) Kinser, Amanda (Devan) Hedden, Daniel Kinser, and Kevin (Pearl) Dilbeck; great-grandchildren, Montana (Evan) Ashbury, Raven Westphal, Colt Kinser, Gunnar Westphal, Addison Westphal, Henry Kinser, and Harvey Hedden; great-grandchildren, Remi Ashbury and Marlie Ashbury; and siblings, G.L. Dills and Shirley Dills; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. John Newton, Rev. Nathan Stuart, and Rev. Joe Long officiating. Special music will be provided by Mary Beth Westphal, Ed Vest, Charlie Farmer, and Renee Watkins. Interment will follow in the Copper Ridge Memory Gardens with the following serving as pallbearers: John Kinser, Daniel Kinser, Devan Hedden, Mike Westphal, Charlie Hogsed, and Kevin Dilbeck. The following are selected to serve as honorary pallbearers: James Edward McGill, Noel Buchanan, Speck Callihan, Ronnie Hartness, Donny Dills, Tim Dills, Richard Wehunt, Kim Norton, Doug Davenport, David Davenport, Raland Patterson, Ricky Thomas, retired and active Tri-State EMC employees, Fannin County Co-Op employees, and the employees of Pruitt Health Hospice. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
