The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mrs. Maggie (Wilson) Brackett, age 87, of Morganton, Ga., who died Sunday, September 26, 2010, at Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville, Ga. Mrs. Brackett was a native and lifelong resident of Fannin County, daughter of the late Herman and Letha Mashburn Wilson, and wife of the late William Lewin Brackett. She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Brackett. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Thomas Hooper of Morganton, one brother, Olin Wilson of Morganton, daughter-in-law, Donna Taylor of Morganton, three grandchildren, Bart, Brad and Randy Hooper, four great-grandchildren, Katie, Jake, and Ryan Hooper, and Gareth Smith, two step-grandsons, Brad and Justin Thomas, and many other relatives and friends.Funeral service will be conducted at Akins Chapel at 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 29, with Rev. Charles Black and Rev. Michael Morton officiating. Interment will be at Hemptown Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday, September 28.
