Mae Ruth Newsome, age 90, of Ellijay, GA passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at her home with her loving children by her side. Mrs. Newsome was born on March 18, 1927 in Mineral Bluff, GA to the late William Arthur Postelle and Mary Odessa Panter Postelle. She was of the Baptist faith, enjoyed gardening, and served Cobb County, GA for many years as a food service assistant at Mountain View Elementary School. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Hudson Newsome who she married in 1957. She is survived by her children, Gary (Selean) Newsome of Ellijay, GA and Staci Young of Dallas, GA; brother, David Postelle of Turtletown, TN; sister, Glenda (Doyle) Petty of Mineral Bluff, GA; grandchildren, Heidi Nicole Montgomery, Brandie Jones, Robin Wilson, and Nolan Young; great grandchildren, Kaylen Thomas, Hunter Young, Myron Young, Hudson Wilson, Lyndon Montgomery and Gabriel Montgomery.Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of Akins Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Queen officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Park Cemetery (410 Whitlock Ave NW Marietta, GA) at 3:00 pm. Friends may visit the family on Sunday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
