The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces funeral services for Mrs. Mae Lee Ledford Harris, age 79, of Murphy, NC who passed away on October 30, 2010. Born in Hiawassee, GA she was the daughter of the late John Oscar and Katie Bradley Chastain. She was formerly employed by the Cherokee County board of education. Mrs. Harris was a long time and faithful member of the Temple Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Wayne Kenneth Ledford and Floyd Harris and one son, David Wayne Ledford, Sr.Survivors include Grandchildren, Derrick and David Wayne Ledford, Jr. both of Murphy, NC; great grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Haley, Courtney, Alexis and Gage Ledford; sisters, Rosa Jones of Copperhill, TN and Kathy Rice of Cherry Log, GA; brothers, Kenneth and O.D. Chastain both of Cherry Log, GA; and many other relatives and friends.Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday November 2, at 3:00 p.m. from the Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Don Padgett officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: David and Derrick Ledford, Dusty Hughes, David Rogers, Joey Sisson and Chance White. Honorary pallbearers will be Morris Jones, Kyle, Tyler and Gage Ledford. The family will receive friends at Temple Baptist Church on Monday evening from 6-9 p.m. at 110 Simonds Chapel Rd.
