Mrs. Lucy Mae Simonds McBrayer Farner, age 101, went to be with her Father in heaven on Friday March 7, 2008 at the Life Care Center in Ducktown, TN. She was born May 19, 1906 in Hiawassee Dam, NC to the late Columbus and Ada Quinn Simonds. Mrs. Farner was a member of Farner Presbyterian Church for many years. She was preceded in death by husbands, Joseph Burton McBrayer in 1969 and also years later she married her second husband George Farner, of Tellico Plains, TN. Mrs. Farner was preceded in death by several brothers; sisters; a daughter-in-law and one grandson, Eddie Roberts in 2007.Survivors included one son, Allen McBrayer of Farner, TN; one daughter, Geneva Roberts of Farner, TN; sisters, Eula Doster, Joyce Simonds and Lorraine Simonds all of Gastonia, NC; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from the Farner Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gary Aven officiating. Music was provided by Steve and Blanche Coleman. Interment followed in the Farner Presbyterian Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Chad Roberts, J.B. McBrayer, Jason McBrayer, Bruce McBrayer, J.M. Verner and Ernest Wilcox. Honorary pallbearers were Brett Roberts and Greg Ellis. The family request in lieu of flowers memorials in memory of Mrs. Lucy Farner and Eddie Roberts may be made to the T.C.
