Mrs. Lucille Marie Twiggs, age 89, of Blue Ridge passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2008 in the Copper Basin Medical Center in Ducktown, TN. Born in Fannin County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Henry William Whitlow, Sr. and Posey Cook Whitlow. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Epworth, GA and a member of the Eastern Star. She retired from Fannin County School System where she worked in the cafeteria. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Cleveland Twiggs. She is survived by a son, Grover Henry Twiggs of Jonesboro, GA; four daughters, Wanda Lou Johnson of Stockbridge, GA, Jerry Newberry of Blue Ridge, Opal Vanette McGowan and Kathryn Elizabeth Newman, both of McCaysville; a sister, Kathleen Taylor of Clinton, TN; 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Friday, February 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Music was by Doug Simonds. Pallbearers were Terry Whitlow, Ronnie Twiggs, Steven Whitlow, Henry Cordle, Sam Bice, and Joe Collett. Honorary pallbearers were all of Mrs. Twiggs' grandchildren. Interment followed in Mobile Cemetery with a white dove release. Donations in memory of Mrs. Twiggs may be made to the Eastern Star of the Shriners Hospital for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607-1460.
