Low "Stub" Perry Reid, age 79, of Turtletown passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026. Stub was born on March 13, 1947 in Murphy to the late Fred Manuel Reid and Edna Mae Stiles Reid. From 1969 until 2003, he worked for the United States Forestry Service. Stub was an avid outdoorsman, spending much of his time instilling that same love in his daughter and grandchildren. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Low is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Edna Reid; and siblings, Helen Tate, Genette Palmer, Bob Reid, Rev. Fred Reid Jr., Louis Reid, and Lola Bell "Sally" Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Clara Reid; daughter, Andrea Kay Reid; grandchildren, Matthew Trey (Shelby) Bateman, Aubrey Grace Bateman, Allie Faith Bateman, and Talon Reid Duggan; great-grandchildren, Dawson Taylor Chase Bateman, Caylen Maureen Lee Bateman, Greyson Walker Reid Newcomb, and Granger William Dwight Newcomb; brothers, Norbert Reid, Loye (Peggy) Reid, and Rev. Farris (JoAnn) Reid; sister, Mary Lou (Donnie) Hyatt; and many niece, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 2:00 PM from the Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Josh Ledford and Rev. Farris Reid officiating. Eulogy will be provided by Rev. Mark Reid. Music will be provided by Clara Reid, Andrea Reid, and Kelly Ledford. Interment will follow in the Turtletown Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Jones, Dakoda Patterson, Loye Reid, Matthew Bateman, Jamie Beavers, Randy Wiggins, Donnie Hyatt Jr., and Marshall Duggan. Honorary pallbearers will be James Leonard, Rev. Farris Reid, and Norbert Reid. The family will receive friends at Akins-Cobb of Copperhill on Sunday, April 19, 2026 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
