Obituary

Louise Powell, age 89 of Turtletown, TN passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Louise was born on March 15, 1936 in Murphy, NC to the late Wilburn Esley Powell and Ella Mae Powell. She was a sewing machine operator. Louise was a lifelong member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, sewing, and quilting. Louise lived the life of a True Servant, helping raise her siblings, nieces, and nephews, and taking care of her elderly parents. She was preceded in death of her parents and siblings, Myrtle Mason, Evelyn Jarrett, Irene Farner, Brenda Payne, Frank Powell, Harvey Powell, Bob Powell, Joe Powell, and Deyo Powell.

Survivors are her brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul Ray "Cotton" Powell and Nellie and Eugene Powell and Patricia; and many nieces and nephews also survived.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. from the Zion Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Hooper and Rev. G.W. Mathis officiating. Music was provided by Glen Hughes. Interment followed the service in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Anthony Powell, Johnny Montgomery, Mike Whitlow, Buddy West, Glen Hughes, and Mark Taylor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital online at stjude.org. The family visited with friends at the Zion Hill Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour of 1:00 p.m.
