Louis Posey Reid, age 80, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on November 3, 2025. He fought the good fight of several serious medical conditions with courage and valor. Louis was born in Hiwassee Dam, NC on April 25, 1945 as the seventh child of eleven to Edna Mae Stiles Reid and Fred Reid Sr. He is preceded in death by his son, Richard "Rick" Guinn Reid, and siblings, Bob Reid, Fred Reid Jr., Helen Tate, Sally Jones, and Genetta Palmer.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Melinda Anne Reid. His son, who he was most proud of, Dr. Mark (Cindy) Reid, Pastor of Legacy Community Church. His Siblings, Norbert Reid, Mary Lou (Donnie) Hyatt, Stub (Clara) Reid, Loy (Peggy) Reid, and Rev. Farris (JoAnn) Reid. He is also survived by granchildren, Brendan Allen, Tyler Duggan, Zack (Ivy) Reid, Trevor Reid, Colton (Madeline) Hogsed, Shanda Crowe (Christian) Williams, Dakota Crowe, 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews, and nieces.

Louis was a "true" mountain man. He loved spending time in the mountains hunting and fishing the lakes of the region. He was a mentor and father figure to many. Pap, as he was known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on the earth was marked with love and compassion. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and those whose lives were touched by him.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Dr. Mark Reid and Pastor Calvin Murphy officating from the Legacy Community Church where Louis was a member. Music was provided by Terry Baliles, Aaron Ausburn, Lyra Cole, Clara Reid, and Andrea Bateman. Interment followed in the Legacy Community Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Matthew Cole, Matthew Bateman, Michael Graves, Michael Stiles, Loy Reid, and Bryan Cole. Honorary pallbearers were Norbert Reid, Stub Reid, Rev. Farris Reid, James Leonard, and Bill Thomason. The family visited with friends at Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Copperhill on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
