Lorie Ann Bearden, age 59, of Blue Ridge passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024 at her home. Lorie was born on May 29, 1965 in Copperhill to the late Rev. Howard Ray Hughes and Merlene Locke Hughes. She was a member of Young's Chapel Baptist Church. Lorie worked for 26 years at Inner Dimensions, and was most recently employed by the News Observer. She enjoyed attending, serving in, and being with the church. Lorie enjoyed reading her bible, riding bikes at the park, and fishing. She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Donnie Nicholson; and great-nephew, Teigan Hughes.
Lorie is survived by her husband, Gary Bearden of the home; daughter, April Michelle Jones of Blue Ridge; son, Rev. Grayson (Elisha) Jones of McCaysville; grandchildren, Gracie Jones and Nolan Jones; step-daughters, Melissa Chastain of Blue Ridge, and Michelle Bearden of Ellijay; siblings, Russell (Katherine) Hughes of McCaysville, Alton Hughes of McCaysville, and Stephanie Nicholson of Blue Ridge; special friends, Karen and Roy Blackston of Morganton; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 2:00 PM from the Akins-Cobb of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Gary Patterson and Rev. David O'Neal officiating. Music was provided by Cody and Tamra Payne. Interment followed in the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers, Rev. Grayson Jones, Alton Hughes, James Hughes, Adam Hughes, Zackary Nicholson, and Jim Falls. Honorary pallbearers were Russell Hughes and Rev. Gerald Mathis. The family visited with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
