The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces funeral services for Mrs. Lori Ann Nelson, age 43, of Turtletown, TN, who passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009 at her home. Lori was born in Gastonia, NC on August 8, 1966. She was a homemaker and a member of the Farner Church of God. She is survived by her husband, Tommy Nelson, Sr. of the home; two sons, Tommy Nelson, Jr. of the home and Lonnie Cheaves (Courtney Starr) of Fort Oglethrope, GA; daughter, Carol Cash (Carl) of Murphy, NC; parents, Lonnie and Carol Medlin Dockery of Murphy, NC; two sisters, Brenda Ayers (John) of Turtletown, TN and Crystal Mason (Mark Neal) of Farner, TN; five grandchildren; many nieces; nephews and friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Tommy Hayes and Rev. Kenneth Nelson officiating. Pallbearers will be Mark Neal, John Ayers, Ray Powell, Miles Stokes, Robert Stone and Mitchell Hughes. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brenda Ayers and Crystal Mason. Interment will follow in Reid's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The family request in lieu of flowers memorials be made to help defray final expenses.
