Obituary

Mrs. Elizabeth Lorene Davenport, age 78, of Blue Ridge passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2007 in the St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Born in Illinois on November 17, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William Henry Welch and Evelyn Crutcher Welch. Her family moved to Missouri when she was small, then moved to Michigan in 1941. There, she married her husband Carl on May 10, 1954. They had one son, Gary Davenport. They moved to Blue Ridge in 1969. Gary met and married Aline Davenport October 22, 1977. Their daughter Jessica was born July 7, 1987. Gary Passed away October 27, 1991. Carl passed away October 3, 2006 after 52 years of marriage. Lorene was survived by a granddaughter, Jessica Lee Davenport; daughter-in-law, Aline Davenport; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Eugene McPherson of Poplar Bluff, MO; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Donna Welch of Plymouth, MI; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, November 25, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from the O'Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Dan Wilkins, Rev. Charlie Mull, and Rev. Michael Pope officiating. Music was provided by Patsy Beaver and the O'Zion Baptist Church Choir. Interment followed in the Church cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Dave Welch, Dan Welch, David Thomas, Michael Thomas, Jason Stewart, and Jackie Taylor. The following gentlemen served as honorary pallbearers: J.T. Duvall, Jim Davenport, Michael Miracle, Steve Beaver, and W.C. Stewart.
