Lois Mae Panther, age 77, of Turtletown passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at her home. Lois was born on February 27, 1945 in Turtletown to the late Dillard Wilcox and Elizabeth Hopkins Wilcox. She worked for many years as a seamstress for Powell's Manufacturing. Lois loved to dance and fish. She was a longtime caregiver to her family. Lois is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Burton Panther; brother, Hoyt Wilcox; and granddaughter, Nikki Panther. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Alicia Panther of Cleveland, TN; daughter, Melissa Peacock of Turtletown; sister, Shirley Cole of Turtletown; grandchildren, Kristin (Travis) Jory, Nakota Panther, Tristan (Shelby) Hedrick, Braden Hedrick, and Ian Hedrick; and great-grandchildren, Kaven Jory, Klayten Jory, Briar Jory, and Minoa Grace Hedrick. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeremiah Jack officiating. Music will be provided by Janice Reid. Interment will follow in the New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers, Doug Collins, Bill Newman, David Newman, Travis Jory, Daniel Stewart, and Shane Putnam.
