Lois Hassell Long, age 91, of Turtletown passed March 15, 2024, following several months of declining health. She was born in Gainesville, Texas to Matthew J (Jack) and Margaret (Maggie) Hassell. She was a graduate of Wichita Falls (TX) General Hospital School of Nursing after which she began a lifelong career as a nurse and nursing educator. She was an accomplished singer and enjoyed travel, movies, cooking, and was an ardent student of the Holy Scriptures.

She is survived by her children: Pamela (Jeff) Lane of Lynchburg, VA and Turtletown, Charles Mark (Cheryl) Long of Farner, TN and Sandra (Jason) Smith of Paris, TN. She is also survived by grandchildren Cassandra Bates, Katherine Attaway and Jon Smith and by two great-grand daughters. She will also be missed by her foster daughter-in-law, Wanda Leath of Crossville, TN as well as several nieces and nephews and many friends

Preceding her in death: a twin sibling who passed shortly after birth, her parents and her two older siblings. Her husband, Charles, well known to many in the Polk County area also preceded her in death as did her foster son, Mike Leath.

Per her wishes no funeral will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024, immediately following the 11:00 worship service at Farner Presbyterian Church. Please join the family for Sunday worship immediately followed by sharing of love and fond remembrances honoring Lois. Those attending are encouraged to wear pink - Lois' favorite color.
