Mr. Lloyd Hughes, age 79, of Cherry Log, GA passed away Friday, February 13, 2009, at Northside Hospital Cherokee in Canton, GA. He was a native and lifelong resident of Fannin County, son of the late Gober and Zelia Grice Hughes. Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his wife Irene Tipton Hughes. He was a farmer and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jay Johnson of Jasper, GA; son, Charles Lloyd Hughes of Cherry Log, GA, son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Mary Hughes of Cherry Log, GA; five grandsons, Michael Hughes, Randy Richardson, Travis Hughes, Jason Richardson and Chris Hughes; one great-grandson, Joe Hughes also survive. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, February 15, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Marvin Young officiating. Music was by Sharon Rogers, Darrell Rogers, Michelle Champion and Kirk Champion. Pallbearers were Eric Richardson, Michael Hughes, Randy Richardson, Travis Hughes, Chris Hughes and Joe Hughes. Interment followed from Stock Hill Cemetery with full military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
