The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces funeral services for Lindsay A. Hayes, age 78, who passed away Friday, August 1, 2008. Born September 30, 1929, he was the son of the late John and Emily Hayes. He was a retired Major and Pilot of the United States Air Force serving in both Korean and Vietnam Wars. Survivors include his beloved wife, Melvinia; loving father of Doug and Vikki, Dave and Linda; Proud "Pop" of Melanie, Jeffrey, Stephanie, Jessica and Jonathan. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Morganton Baptist Church Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
