Linda Harris Watson, age 81, of Murphy, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026. She was born on December 30, 1944, in Copperhill, to the late James Harlo Harris and Adele Bandy Harris. Linda left the Blue Ridge mountains to take a job in matching fingerprints with the FBI in Washington, D.C. She later retired from AT&T where she worked in customer service. Linda lived most of her life in Byron, GA, before moving back to Murphy.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph W. Watson; and siblings, Jean (Charlie) Calhoun, James E. Harris, James Harlo Harris, Jr., Billy Harris, and Michael R. Harris.

Linda is survived by her siblings and their spouses, Haril and Dale Harris, Judy and Leon Queen, and T.J. and Ann Harris; sisters-in-law, Shirley Harris, Sherry Harris, and Debbie Harris; grandchildren, Rachel Kate Lyles and Joseph Watson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 5:00 PM from the Akins-Cobb Copperhill Chapel. Pastor Jeremy Tipton will officiate. Music will be provided by the New Hope Holiness Church Singers. Interment will follow in the New Hope Holiness Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry Harris, Shannon Harris, Jason Harris, Jeremy Harris, Adam Standridge, and Clay Standridge. The family will visit with friends on Sunday evening from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
