Mrs. Linda Faye Smith Cantrell, age 79 of Ellijay, GA passed on Tuesday, March 19th at Piedmont Mountainside in Ellijay, GA.

Mrs. Linda was born on February 20th, 1945 in Portsmouth, VA to her late parents, Jesse Carl and Dolly Lavina Smith. She was a member of River Hill Baptist Church and worked for many years as a paraprofessional and substitute teacher in the Gilmer County School System. Linda enjoyed bird watching, wildflowers, and caring for her pets. She is preceded in death by her sister, Shelby Fields and her brother, Harold Smith.

Mrs. Cantrell is survived by her husband of 61 years, Rev. Billy Cantrell of the home in Ellijay, GA; sons and daughter-in-law, William and Beverly Cantrell and Chris Cantrell, all of Ellijay, GA; grandson, Mason Cantrell of Mesa, AZ; sister-in-law, Joy Cantrell Childress and brother-in-law, David Cantrell, both of Ellijay, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, March 23rd 2024 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside interment will follow in the Scrougetown Community Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Young, Dennis Ralston, David Fields, Drew Bryan, Robert Smith and William Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Beaver, Richard Long, Ernest Long, James McGill, Euel Southern, Michael Smith, David Smith, Robert Garrett, Michael Cantrell Hubert Stewart, and James Holt.

Family will receive friends from 2pm until 8pm on Friday, March 22nd 2024 at the Logan Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the Scrougetown Community Church Fund, c/o Michael Cantrell, 136 Old Hickory Hollow Road, Ellijay, GA 30536 in memory of Linda Cantrell. The family also requests that no food be brought to the funeral home.
