Mr. Leroy Queen, age 62, of McCaysville passed away Friday, August 17, 2007 in the Fannin Regional Hospital. Born in Polk County, TN, he was the son of the late Arthur Leroy Queen. He was retired from the Fannin County School System as a school bus driver for thirty-one years and was a rafting bus driver for White Water Express for seven years. Mr. Queen was a member of the New River Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Louise Winkler.
He is survived by his wife, Maybell Cross Queen of the home; two sons, Buddy Queen and Dustin Tyler Queen both of McCaysville, daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Doug Stiles of McCaysville; mother, Edith Haren Queen of McCaysville; three brothers, Larry Queen of Marietta, GA, Lowell Queen of McCaysville and Leslie Queen of Mineral Bluff; three grandchildren, Cassie Chastain, Stephen Chastain and Jacob Queen.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 20, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Kenny Housley officiating. Music was by Melinda Trimm and Joey Cook. Pallbearers were Doug Stiles, Richard Tanner, Justin Elrod, Daniel Queen, Darren Queen, Forrest Robinson and Johnny Ritchie. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Queen, Lowell Queen, Leslie Queen, Art Winkler, T.J. Queen, Roy Lee Allen, Lee Roy Allen, Dr. Gary Hunt, Andy Hyde and grandsons. Interment followed in the Kingtown Baptist Church Cemetery.
Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of arrangements.
