Leonard Charles "Smokey" Stover, age 87, of Kennesaw, GA, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023 in Marietta, GA. He was born on November 15, 1935, in Blue Ridge, to the late William Messer Stover and Nellie Stewart Stover. He served in the United States Air Force and later retired from Dobbins Air Force Base where he was a Lead Electrician Foreman. He was a member of Summit Baptist Church in Kennesaw.
LC never met a stranger. He was a straight shooter. He loved God, his family, and especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grands. He enjoyed the outdoors while hunting and fishing. He was a generous man, enjoyed people and loved them well.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Louise Mull Stover; siblings, Lewis Stover, Kenneth Stover, Dennis Stover, Frank Stover, David Stover, Billy Stover, Pauline Allen, Irene Stover, Bonnie Long, and Edna Bishop.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Dennis Little, Sharleen and Doug Turley; grandchildren, Shawnda Williams, Justin and Christine Little, and Elizabeth and Whit Beall; great-grandchildren, Peyton Beall, Lilah Little, Roman Little, and Ryder Little; special friend and companion, Myra Priest; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Wally Greene; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Delores and Edd Pelfrey.
A celebration of LC's life will begin with visitation on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 1:30 PM and the service to follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Stover officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force. Interment will follow at a later date in the Georgia National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Little, Whit Beall, Wayne Stover, Steve Huffman, Mike Saunders, Josh Priest, Jesse Priest, Dustin Priest, Coty Priest, Cley Saunders, and Terry Pelfrey. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Wreaths Across America at www.wreathsacrossamerica.org or to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
