Mrs. Leona E. Gaddis, age 75, of Cohutta, GA passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Heritage Health Care of Blue Ridge. She was a native and former resident of the Copper Basin, daughter of the late William Elrod and Effie Truelove Elrod. She was of the Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Clarence Gaddis and Mike Stinnett.She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Daniel Nordick of Cohutta, Ga., three sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Tammy Gaddis of Copperhill, Tenn., Dennis and Peggy Gaddis of Crandall, Ga., and Charles Gaddis of Dalton, Ga., one sister, Ruby Baine of Cohutta, Ga., one brother, Arthur Elrod and wife Lena of Turtletown, Tenn., ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Billy Waters officiating. Music was by Jennifer Danner. Pallbearers were Steven Gaddis, Christopher Gaddis, Randall Baine, Junior Baine, Kenny Newman, and Charles Elrod. The staff of Heritage Health Care of Blue Ridge served as an honorary escort. Interment followed in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of the arrangements.
