Leo Henry Davis, age 88, passed away December 7, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. Leo was born February 6, 1935 at his childhood home on Hardscrabble Road, Mineral Bluff, GA. He was the son of William and Bertha Davis. Leo had 3 siblings, a sister, Edna Lee Davis that passed away at the age of 12, an older brother Cecil Davis, and a twin sister, Betty Collins.
Leo proudly served in the United States Army for 2 years where he was stationed in Germany and Fort Hood, Texas. He later worked for Chemical Leaman Tank Lines as a truck driver for 30 years. He married Barbara Queen Davis, the love of his life, on June 28, 1963 where they resided in Morganton, GA. They were happily married for 60 years and had 3 children. His children include Bruce Davis (Brenda) of Mineral Bluff, Richard Davis (Becky) of Morganton, and Amanda (Chad) Galloway, also of Morganton.
Leo was an amazing husband, father, and provider for his family. Leo loved southern gospel music, bluegrass, and a good joke. He passed his talent and love for music onto all 3 of his children. Leo can always be remembered playing the guitar or singing a song around his home. He taught his children about hard work, generosity, and love of church and family. Leo was loved by everyone who met him and had countless friends throughout his life.
Leo was a proud member of Concord Baptist Church of Morganton, GA where he served as Choir Director for several years. Leo was also very proud of his country and whether anyone liked it or not, he would always find a way to talk about politics and his favorite president.
Leo had 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Grandchildren include Brett Davis, Brad Davis, Brittany Janes, Brooke Davis, Adia Galloway, and Airianna Galloway. He also had 4 great grandchildren Sophia Janes, Lincoln Janes, Riley Davis, and Emory Kate Davis.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. from the Concord Baptist Church with Rev. Vaughn Galloway officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. John Newton officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be: Brett Davis, Brad Davis, Anthony Higdon, Scott Cruse, Lee Cox and Matt Lord. Chad Galloway, Charles Janes and Ricky Taylor will serve as honorary pallbearers. Military Honors will be provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM. The family request in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Concord Baptist Church for renovations of a new ceiling in the sanctuary at 470 Highland Forest Drive, Morganton, GA 30560.
