Mrs. Lena Mae Lowery, age 92, of East Ellijay, GA passed away Monday, June 7, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Lowery was born in Fannin County, GA on February 27, 1918 to the late Will Payne and Millie M. Hyde Payne. She was a member of Mt. Liberty Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Lowery. Mrs. Lowery was also preceded in death by a son, Jess Lowery, Jr.; and two daughters, Letha Mae Lowery and Martha Painter. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a divine Christian. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jackie Lowery of Ellijay, Bobby and Norma Lowery of Ellijay, and Roger and Joyce Lowery of Chatsworth; daughters and sons-in-law, Joann and James Bennett of Ellijay and Lula and Jess Beard of Chatsworth; daughter-in-law, Pam Lowery of Ellijay; son-in-law, James Lee Painter of Ellijay; brother and sister-in-law, Marshal and Mary Lou Payne of Dalton; sister, Ruby Woods of Dalton; twenty-six grandchildren, forty great grandchildren, and twelve great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Friday, June 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Ed O'Neal and Rev. Melvin O'Neal officiating. Music was by Bobby Lowery and Joseph Killian. Pallbearers were Chris Lowery, Lee Lowery, Michael Lowery, Brian Lowery, Jason Lowery, Patrick Lowery, Tim Bennett, and Josh Lowery. Interment followed in Mt. Liberty Church Cemetery. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of arrangements. .
