Mrs. Lena Carol Elrod age 72 of Turtletown, TN passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Copper Basin Medical Center in Copperhill, TN. She was born on Monday, March 2, 1942 in Copperhill, TN to the late J.C. and Mary Elliott Bryant. Mrs. Elrod was a homemaker and a member of Apostolic Lighthouse Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, James Ray Elrod. Survivors are her husband of fifty-seven years, Mr. James Elrod of the home; son, Tommy Joe Elrod (Diane) of Dalton, GA; daughters, Linda Jones (Randle)of Cleveland, TN, Normalee Walker (Herman "Pete") of Turtletown, TN and Annie Marie Gober of Turtletown, TN; sisters, Grace Allen of Dalton, GA and Loretta Hyde of Cleveland, TN; four grandchildren, Dewayne Powell, Carolee Brancefield, Nikki Gober and Donovan Gober; three great-grandchildren, Clay and Cole Brancefield and Jaxon Powell. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with the Brother Mike Jarrett officiating. Music will be by Brother Mike Jarrett and Brother Jeremiah Jarrett. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Turtletown. Pallbearers will be Dewayne Powell, Kenny Brancefield, Charles Elrod, Robert Elrod, Mike McDougal and Nathaniel Elrod.
