Mrs. Leila Vernice Porterfield Arnold, age 97, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away Monday, December 14, 2015 at her home. Mrs. Arnold was born in Connellsville, Pennsylvania on October 22, 1918 to the late W.J. Porterfield and Hazel Pierce Porterfield. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge for 34 years and was a current member of Hemptown Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 76 years, George Elliott Arnold of Blue Ridge; son and daughter-in-law, George Elliott "Skip" Arnold, Jr. and Dotty Arnold of Fargo, ND; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon East and Ron East of Blue Ridge; 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Harold Willis officiating. Music will be by Imogene Stewart and Brian Huffman. Pallbearers will be Mark Arnold, Jeff Weaver, David East, Brannon Holt, George "Skip" Arnold, Jr., and Ron East. Interment will follow in Chastain Memorial Park.
