Obituary

Mr. Lee "Roy" Stewart, age 81, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away on February 20, 2015 at his home in the Sugar Creek Community. He was a member of the Glen Hope Baptist Church and a United States Army Veteran. Born in Fannin County, he was the son of the late Kitten and Fred Stewart. His brother, Max Stewart and sister, Mary Ann Panter also precedes him in death.Through the years Roy owned several businesses including a service station, laundromat, mini golf courses, over the road tractors, radiator shop and the Sugar Creek Raceway. He loved flowers and some might even remember the beautiful flower bed in the front of his service station that was filled with tree roses and marigolds. Later he had a bed of Iris at the Radiator shop. He got upset when someone picked some of the flowers as he said they were for everyone to enjoy, not just one person. As a young man he raced go carts and later a dirt stock car. When his son Scott was old enough to drive, he told him he would help him get a car or race car. Scott chose a race car and drove it for several years with the help of his Dad. Roy made many friends in the racing community and continued to attend races at numerous tracks until his health deteriorated.Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Imogene McVey Stewart, sons, Lee and Scott Stewart; grandchildren, Chip, Amberley, Caleb and Abby Stewart; sister-in-laws, Bettye Stewart, Annabelle M.
