Larry Cecil Mashburn, age 70, of Blue Ridge, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at his home. Born on February 1, 1948 in Blue Ridge, GA, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Ruth Johnson Mashburn. He was a member of the Blairsville Church of Christ. He served in the United States Army and later retired from UPS where he had worked in management for 25 years. He is also preceded in by his son, Larry Chadwick Mashburn. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan Burnette Mashburn; daughter, Rene Mashburn and her fianc Mark Loudermilk; brother and sister-in-law, Kennon and Tommy Jo Mashburn; sisters and brother-in-law, Frances and Roger Thrasher and Sharon Burnette. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Terry Stuart officiating. Music was provided by Teresa Chastain and Janice Thacker. Interment followed in the O'Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Logan Jeffers, Jerry Burnette, Jimmy Laymac, John Laymac, Derek Davis, and Jeff Harkins served as pallbearers. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
