Mr. Larry Ernest Long, age 58, of Ellijay, GA passed away April 1, 2014 at his home. Born in Copperhill, TN he was the son of the late Ernest Clinton Long and Christine Octalee Franks Long Panter. He was a Diesel Mechanic for Komatsu Tractor and Equipment. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Dianne Parris Long of Ellijay, GA; two sons, Tim Long of Ramhurst, GA and Phillip Long of Ellijay, GA; papaws precious grandchild, Hayleigh Alexis Cook; brother, Terry Long of Epworth, GA; sister, Lisa Ryder of Manchester, TN; step-mother, Nancy Gibat of Manchester, TN and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Monday April 7, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Alan Picklesimer and Rev. Michael Collis officiating. Music will be provided by Shawty Kendall. Serving as pallbearers will be Chuck Collis, Neil Collis, Paul Collis, Phillip B. Long, Brandon Long, Josh Lacy, Sam Parris and Trig Parris. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Edward Kendall, Ronnie Parris, James Parris, Terry Long, Michael Guy, Randy Guy,Johnny Gray, Terry Ramsey and Phillip Collis. Interment will follow in the Bethel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour of 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to help defray final expenses.
